About.
Welcome and bienvenidos and ہیلو. I’m Tara Ashraf.
A recent graduate of the international communication program from American University in Washington DC, I studied Spanish, communication/journalism, and English at St. John Fisher College in Rochester.
I've studied and lived in Granada, Spain, Miami, Florida, Upstate and Western New York, Medellín, Colombia, and Washington, DC.
I've researched many topics, from international health to new media to Spanish fantasy literature to dental therapy.
My story is one of multiple identities. InbetweenAmerican tells my story of living between identities and the ways my identities built a deep empathy and understanding I wish to instill in my students.
As a teacher, my goal is to create an environment that encourages a sense of curiosity about the world and how to navigate between the cultures they may face and show them that it is an opportunity - not oppositional forces at play.
